Portfolio Pathway (CESR) Support Programme
Dr. Nikhil Nanjappa offers a bespoke CESR Support Programme to guide medical professionals through the Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR), a route to specialist registration in the UK for doctors who have not completed a GMC-approved training programme but can demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience (KSE). What is the Portfolio Pathway (CESR)?
The Portfolio Pathway allows doctors to apply for specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) by submitting a portfolio of evidence demonstrating their KSE matches the standards required of a UK consultant. Since November 2023, the process has shifted from requiring equivalence to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) to focusing on high-level outcomes, known as Capabilities in Practice (CiPs). This pathway is ideal for internationally trained doctors or those with non-standard training backgrounds aiming to secure substantive consultant positions in the NHS.
